Imagination Library

Igniting a passion for reading and learning in young children!

Imagination Library Video

Imagination Library of Washington's mission is to foster a love of reading among young learners by ensuring equitable access to free monthly books mailed directly to their homes from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

The Imagination Library of Washington's vision is that ALL early learners have a quality, inclusive home library, so they are inspired to read, ready to learn, and excel academically.

Reading begins at birth and the benefits of a home library go far beyond the books. Parents and guardians are a child’s first and best teacher. By providing books every month at no cost to families, the Imagination Library increases childhood literacy rates, fosters a love of books, and promotes a culture of reading among all families in Washington.

  • 3.9 million books have been delivered to children in Washington since 2005
  • Nearly 100,000 Washington children are currently receiving monthly books from the Imagination Library
    • 18% of Washington's zero-to-five year old population are enrolled in the Imagination Library
  • 74,000 five-year-olds have graduated from the Imagination Library
